Our Story

How do you know you've found the one?

Deva and Virginia

When long, winding lines don't make you miserable
When the power goes out, but you're laughing in the dark
When the movie is awful, but the drive home is still fun

How will you know when you're ready?

When you're at peace with missing shooting stars
Because what else could you even wish for?

When you stop looking
up at the sky
And start looking across from you.

To not wish, but accept
That you know you've found the one,
And that you're ready.

Traditions

Our Fusion Ceremony

Our wedding weaves together Punjabi and Western traditions into one joyful celebration. Here's a guide to the meaningful moments you'll witness throughout the day.

Celebration of Music & Dance

Sangeet

A joyful celebration of music and dance shared between both families. Friends and family perform choreographed dances and songs in honor of the couple — think of it as the ultimate party.

The Groom's Procession

Baraat

The groom arrives in festive procession accompanied by his family and friends, dancing to dhol drumbeats and music. Guests are encouraged to join in the dancing as Deva makes his way to meet the bride's family. It's loud, joyful, and full of energy.

The Meeting of Families

Milni

Immediately following the Baraat, the two families formally come together. The bride's family greets the groom's family one by one with flower garlands and warm embraces. It's a beautiful moment of unity symbolizing the joining of two families into one.

Jaimala — Acceptance of Each Other

Garland Exchange

Deva and Virginia exchange vibrant flower garlands (called Jaimala or Varmala) as a symbol of mutual acceptance and respect. This ancient ritual marks the moment the couple chooses each other in front of their loved ones.

The Seven Sacred Vows

Saat Pheras

The heart of a Hindu wedding ceremony. The couple takes seven rounds around a sacred fire, each circle representing a vow — for nourishment, strength, prosperity, wisdom, progeny, health, and lifelong friendship. Each step deepens their commitment to one another.

Western Traditions

Vows & Ring Exchange

Deva and Virginia will also exchange personal vows and wedding rings in the Western tradition, giving them the opportunity to speak their promises to each other in their own words in front of everyone they love.
